Távoli Templom

TÁVOLI TEMPLOM című dokumentumfilm nemzetközi alkotógárdája 14 éven át kísérte figyelemmel a címben szereplő épület és a hozzá kapcsolódó vallási közösség életét.Az egyetlen megmaradt ortodox zsinagógát Makón 2002-ben újították és avatták fel. A kis templom, ahogyan az elszármazott makóiak nevezik a kapcsolatot jelenti számukra szülővárosukkal a mai napig is, május végén minden évben találkoznak, hogy emlékezzenek rabbijukra.
Különböző életutak tárulnak elénk párhuzamosan az elmút 14 évből Makó, London, Tel Aviv, Jeruzsalem, New York városából, ahonnan visszatérnek a makói rabbi, Vorhad Mózes sírjához, akiről utcát neveztek el Makón.

DISTANT TEMPLE  - (90 minutes documentary film)

The last orthodox synagogue in Makó was renewed and inaugurated in 2002. The little temple, as they call it, is more than hundred years old and represents the link between the Jews who emigrated from this town in the south-eastern part of Hungary, the birthplace (amongst others) of Joseph Pulitzer.
The various members of the community have built new lives elsewhere whilst holding on to the values of their cultural past. Scenes were shot on location in Israel, United Kingdom and the United States portraying the lives of the Jewish members of the ex community. The mood ranges from a poignant visit to the grave of the last Makó rabbi to a spirited traditional Chasidic wedding in Jerusalem; Hanukah in London, New York and Makó…
The film goes backwards like a time machine 14 years, from 5762/2002 to 5748/1988, when the last Yom Kippur was celebrated in Makó.
