Petteri Laihonen is based at the Centre of Applied Language Studies of the University of Jyväsklylä. He is an advisor in the ongoing Tiszavasvári participatory ethnography project and participated in several workshops in the Autumn of 2024. He first visited Tiszavasvári as early as 2021 as part of the translanguaging project. A long-term collaborator of the Hungarian research team, he was lead author of a chapter on non-standardised ways of speaking and language-policy regimes in the 2023 volume entitled Translanguaging for Equal Opportunities: Speaking Romani at School (Heltai, J. I. and Tarsoly, E. (eds.) Berlin: De Gruyter). He is a consultant on citizen science and participatory ethnography, as well as on the development of authorial voices in Duj Dzséne – Two Together, in which he published an article recalling his own experience working in meat-processing before studying at university.
