Ica is one of the local contributors of our participatory research projects in Tiszavasvári. She joined our research team in summer 2022 and lives in the centre of town. She worked as a nursery school teacher and later as headteacher in the nursery located near one of the Roma neighbourhoods, in Büd, different from the one where our project is based. She looked after the Hungarian-monolingual children living in this neighbourhood with great dedication. Her family live nearby; she supports her adult children and looks after her grandson. Alongside early years education, Ica’s other core interest includes ethnographic and folklore studies. As an independent scholar, she researched local folklore, verbal art, customs, and material culture. She published several books, collections, and edited volumes on her research, including pedagogical source materials on local children’s games and rhymes. She has been a member of Duj Dzséne – Two Together’s editorial team from the outset.
