Research activity, brief description of profile:
The main focus of the research group is the experimental investigation of interactions between action and perception. Our fundamental skill to use tools relies on our ability to predict the consequences of our actions and to weight them according to their importance. However, efficient tool use depends not only on predicting the consequences of our actions, but also on whether we are able to adapt our actions and movements to the physical conditions of interaction. The goal of our research is to understand how cognitive processes give rise to these abilities and to explore their individual differences. Our results may be useful in the ergonomic design of user interfaces, as well as in the development of methods to assist in motor skill acquisition or movement rehabilitation.
